CAROLINE ENGLAND
Caroline England was an Emergency Exit Arts company member since the 1990s. Many knew her as a theatre director and lecturer but she was also a wonderful performer who had worked for many reputable companies.
Caroline was dedicated to the concept of the Arena from the beginning when, alongside other artists, she traveled to Sri Lanka to research and devise the show. Caroline was the obvious choice to direct Arena. She had been crucial to the success of EEA’s most uplifting show, Runga Rung, the Colour of Colours, which has become one of the most successful touring outdoor productions in the UK. Through her intelligence and artistry she contributed greatly to EEA's reputation for innovation, carrying forward our vision of culturally diverse work that has inspired new relationships and developments in street arts.
Not long before she died Caroline contributed the main strands of the Arena scenario, pulling together the wealth of ideas that had amassed since our time in Sri Lanka. We will be eternally grateful and we will miss her very much.
